Brittany found me on Yelp and sent me an inquiry and I was stoked to see something a little out of the ordinary in my inbox.
Brittany and her husband Kris, have been married for 5 years. Every year, they come from Virginia Beach to Siesta Key and they get all dressed up like it was their wedding day again and take photos to celebrate another happy year as husband and wife. How adorable, right?
I parked my car and looked to my left and out of a mini-van pops these two gorgeous creatures in their stunning outfits. I was blown away by Brittany's dress and was impressed that after 5 years and TWO kids her dress still looked flawless! Lord knows, I don't still fit in mine! She let me in on a little secret: she purposely got a dress with a corset style tie up back so it could grow or shrink with her -- GENIUS!
Kris was such a sweet man to his wife which was super refreshing to see. He helped her with her dress every time we moved location, he was constantly telling her how beautiful she looked and was even blown away by how pretty her nails looked. He also blew ME away when he said "What is that? Shellac?". My jaw hit the floor and I asked him "Who are you and where did you come from?!".
Seriously though, what guy knows what Shellac is? One that pays attention that's who.
Working with Brittany & Kris was such a pleasure. They "warned me" when we first started shooting that they were going to be "awkward" and "nervous". I explained to them that it's fun and to treat it that way! Natural "un-posed" shots are the best so just let loose! Do these look like two awkward people to you? Yeah, me neither.
As if they couldn't get ANY cuter they explained to me that every year they also get a picture of them holding the picture from last year so naturally I jumped at the chance to be a part of that awesomeness. It reminded me of a line from one of my favorite songs - Jolene by Ray LaMontagne when he sings "with a picture of you, holding a picture of me, in the pocket of my blue jeans".
The love between Brittany & Kris was so evident. As a fairly-newly wed myself (1 year under our belts) it was encouraging to see a young couple doing their thing and living the good life together. The way that he looked at her was the way any woman longs to be looked at by the man she loves.
Here's to you, guys, and here's to another 5. I hope to see you next year!
I'll leave you with some of my favorites from last night session. 'Till next time - Thanks for reading!
